I liked White Teeth. It is an impressive and ambitious first novel (written when Smith was just 23 years old) about the immigrant experience in North London. As many have noted, this novel is somewhat epic in scope and, thus, requires some attention and concentration. Not an ideal summer read. Although I read it in June/July...hmm.
Note: I LOVED Smith's 3rd novel, On Beauty. LOVED it. I read it years ago and plan to reread soon.

Note #2: I am halfway through my "52 books in 52 weeks" goal and feel like I am right on track. If only I counted all of the children's book I've read! I can only imagine how far ahead I would be!
